Form and function yet another creative success by Polymer Systems International in response to a life threatening global pandemic. The A7 represents reliability and safety as crucial elements in successful ventilation.
Features
Intensive care A7-Ventilator offers the highest ventilator performance and revolutionary operation designed for every ventilation therapy, whether invasive, non-invasive, mask or tube, the unique A7 has been developed and designed by experts in the respiratory field.

7in Touch Screen

7in touch screen incorporates Manual, CV, VS & ACV modes and many more customization features unique to each patient with user friendly self guided navigation.
· Manual – Allows patient breath with titrated oxygen at pre-set percentage
· CV – Controlled ventilation at pre-set respiratory rate, volume, pressure, and flow
· VS – Volume support monitors patient respiratory rate, delivering a breath if required
· ACV – Asist control will sense a patient’s breath and deliver a set volume at a set flow rate
Oxygen & Sensor Controls

Includes Oxygen blender for the ultimate concentration accuracy
Ability to recognize changes in lung compliance and resistance as well as the patient’s spontaneous activity
• Fully automated control of the patient’s ventilation and oxygenation
• Real-time patient respiratory synchronization
Inhale & Exhale

Adaptive, lung-protective ventilation
The A7-Ventilator is adaptive supporting the earliest possible spontaneous breathing by the patient. Following the current recommendations for lung-protective ventilation in terms of tidal volumes and driving pressure with over pressure and patient disconnect alarms.
Invasive ventilation & non-invasive ventilation capability

The Development
Evolved from the fight against the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic.
The Covid – 19 Operations Command Centre was approached with the idea in April. They were impressed with the concept and given the NZ and global shortage of this equipment, referred them onto a well-known expert in this field, Dr Ross Freebairn. His knowledge and advice has been invaluable and enabled the development of the prototype that was subsequently developed.
The unique A7 Ventilator works by using a gas/air powered driving cylinder pulsing the flexible diaphragm membrane resulting in a set but titratable tidal volume that can be delivered safely at a rate and pressure that is preset depending on the patients requirements.
It uses an external adjustable Peep valve to maintain positive end-expiatory pressure and is be able to deliver a constant tidal volume against various resistances and compliance. While it uses gas/air to drive it, oxygen and room air are not inter-used with the driving gas. The driving power can be medical air, medical oxygen, or compressed non-medical air without any risk to the patient.
The A7 Prototype is now fully functional with its touch screen display settings providing automated oxygen titration (FiO2), controlled ventilation (CV), volume support (VS) and assisted ventilation control (ACV). This allows full support to a sedated patient through to weaning off to a point where the patient is providing all the energy. Along with these functions, parameters are monitored to provide alarm functions for oxygen, low pressure inspiration, over pressure inspiration, device disconnect from patient and power loss.
While NZ requirements are not large at the moment, interest has already been received from countries where such units are desperately needed and there is no doubt that there is a global need for a ventilator like the A7 that can provide the 3 or 4 basic modes commonly required without any specialized operator training, is simple, reliable and affordable.
